The Italian Tyre Retreaders Association (AIRP) announces today’s publication of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/1579 of 18 October 2018 in the Official Journal of the European Union, which imposes fixed rate antidumping duties on BTR tires imported into the EU from the People’s Republic of China. The rates originally proposed by the European Commission on 28 September and approved by the Antidumping Commission on 3 October, which range from a minimum amount of € 42.73 to a maximum amount of € 61.76 per tire, will come into force on 23 October.  

The European Commission has established temporary antidumping duties on new and retreaded BTR tires imported from China. This is stated in EU Regulation 2018/683 of 4 May 2018, which was published in the EU Journal yesterday. 

Every year, approximately 3,868.000 tons of scrap tires are generated in Europe (this figure includes both retreadable and non-retreadable tires), of which 92.5% undergo environmentally friendly treatments, i.e. reuse, recycling and similar processes. 

The new provision may lead to countervailing anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures.
